Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

Sleeve gastrectomy or gastric sleeve surgery

A procedure performed with keyhole / laparoscopic surgery, usually through 5 small incisions 5mm - 15mm in size.  Approximately 75% of the stomach is removed permanently.

Whilst it is true that there is a physical reduction in space of the stomach and therefore, less food can be taken, the major effect of this procedure is hormonal change which reduces appetite. Dr Cocco would be happy to discuss this procedure and its risks and benefits at your appointment if it suits your circumstances.
